The Hideout has been under current ownership since 2017 and since then has been transformed into a Destination Resort. The resort sits within 1,225 acres and has its own 18-hole golf course as well as direct access to the 7,300-acre Lake Brownwood. The golf course was designed by Bill Johnston and has been recognized as the best golf course in Brown County, 6th best course in Texas and Top-25 US Courses for staff friendless by GolfPass. The lake provides access to a wide range of water activities, such as boating, jet skiing and fishing. In addition to the above-mentioned activities, golfing and lake life, the resort has a clubhouse with a popular local restaurant and bar, onsite lodging through a combination of rooms, lodges, ranch style homes, and RV spots as well as rental RVs. Other amenities include a fitness gym, outdoor tennis court, pool area and boat dock.
The Hideout consists of 1,203 acres plus estimated 22 acres of additional land which the resort recently purchased. The Hideout Masterplan envisions approximately 2,800 lots based on a wide range of built structures and lot types, ranging from condominiums, duplex or townhomes to resort homes, single family homes and large sprawling estates. Approximately 520 acres have been platted for ca. 1,500 lots of which 1,220 have already been sold. The remaining ca. 680 acres consist of 360 acres of community space (clubhouse, golf course, lodging, etc.) and 320 acres of unplatted land for additional development. Existing and possible lot locations range from interior to golf course to lakefront, with or without direct lake access. Due to the size of the resort, there are currently 6 established neighborhoods – Feather Bay, Crown Point and Kings Point Cove 1-3 as well as Reflection Ridge, which was recently acquired. Reflection Ridge’s 22 acres have been platted of which close to 6.5 acres have been already sold, leaving 15.5 acers of mostly lakefront access lots available for sale.
The Hideout is a unique destination resort located just outside of Brownwood, TX, located roughly 2.0 to 2.5 hours west of Austin and 2.5 hours north-west of Dallas. The Hideout is also closely located to the oil towns of Odessa and Midland, which are roughly a 3-hour drive to the west.
The resort is directly located on Highway 2632, and the City of Brownwood has connections to highways 84, 67 and 377. The city of Brownwood is a thriving town of roughly 20,000 citizens with major employers in manufacturing, education, and healthcare, such as 3M, Kohler, Superior Essex Corp, Walmart, Howard Payne University and Hendrick Medical Center. In addition, the city benefits from being close to the US Army Training camp Camp Brownie, which at its peak hosted up to 80,000 soldiers.
